MGA - Series 2 (webpack 73 images)

Post by Red2048 »

Contains 73 web images with removed backgrounds and notes.

These are all frontal photos, not sure if you are interested in blisters and boxes.
Some images have a small angle or a lightflare on the display, if these are not acceptable then that is fine. I will see which are not used on the site later and will go on a hunt for improvements. 👀

Let me know when you have downloaded the directory, then I put these offline again.

EDIT:
Sorry, 1 game included is allready online, Adventures of the Lion.

Thanks a lot again. You post is in the format which makes my life very easy as well :D . Much appreciated.

Absolutely no issue if the game if not perfect made from the front. I have much worse images placed online when I cannot find a better one. Some I cannot even find at all anymore I noticed. Good I grabbed them years ago. Better to have a bad image then none at all, because it proves the game exists. Sometimes I just see an image of a magazine or the box. that could mean the game does not exist or the game inside the box is exactly the same as another one and I do no make all variants of boxes available at the moment. Was in doubt a bit about that some time ago.

Some Baseball have "Grand Slam" in front so I added that to the title. Same with basketball with "Slam Dunk".

I am not very consistent about backside images and boxes. I usually use a front for handhelds and also a side for the tabletops but not always.

I downloaded the file, so fell free to delete it. I will give the smaller screen versions their own series.

If your images are better than the ones I found I would still appreciate them and replace them. I will rename your images to the game ID ones.

For your information. My homemade tool expects this for homemade images:
<game id>_f : Front image
<game id>_b : Back image
<game id>_r : Right side image
<game id>_l : Left side image
<game id>_t : Top image
<game id>_u : Bottom image
<game id>_bf : Box front image
<game id>_bb : Box back image
<game id>_bs : Box side image
<game id>_of : Open front image
<game id>_ob : Open back image
<game id>_os : Open side image

But no need to change what you are doing. You are helping me a lot already. Sometimes I misuse one of these filename for screenshot or something else though. So not that strict.

Also thanks for the differen MGA logos. Maybe I will use that one as well. Great job.
At this speed I will update the website more regulalry

"...all variants of boxes...in doubt..."

Yes, that would create another range of branches that are tough to decide how they would be organized.
Not only that but I see often packaging which are mixed with different versions of the same game.
I think many used old stock boxes with newer game releases, or vice versa, and also people sometimes mix boxes with incorrect games.

I just divide each serie into 3 lists, one page for only the games, another for all blisters/boxes and another for manuals.
I also cannot solve how to combine these in a good way, without having a same box image re-used for multiple games.

"Grand Slam" / "Slam Dunk"

Yes, also "Soccer" became at one point in time "World Cup Soccer".
(I also have the feeling "(Touchdown) Football" might be another one, but I never found a release prior to that 1994 version with just Football as title)

I explicitly left those parts in the filetitles for you, hoping you would pick up the hint in there, which you did. 👍
I did not wanted to give you a list where these same sports games were at random places the a full list, I thought it was better to group them for you and let you decide how you would handle them afterwards.

Ok great and fine about the rest. Happy to do it.

One question, the of/ob/os tags, is that also for the boxes?

Currently not (yet) supported by the tool, but if we think it makes sense we could have a look. Never thought about open box images to be frank.

Ahno sorry, I think most boxes are just monotone on the inside, not really important.
The Open is for the inside view of games? Like PCB and so?

Ah no that I never thought of having on the site since I have none. If you have a bunch we could add it of course.

While adding the images you found, I changed the name Blokade to Blockade. It looks that it what it says on the box. Together we find more errors than my alone which I appreciate a lot.

Yes, you are correct, on the page Blokade is a typo. (the image filename has the correct Bockade name)

I have a bunch of PCB closeup shots, ~35, mostlly from cheap unbranded games that needed some repair. I shots these and logged PCB numbers.
Think half of them are only the rear side of the PCB, I often had to remove a back shell/case to open those nasty rotating battery covers that are a pain to open.
I don't always remove the PCB from the frontal shell/case if it is not needed.
I don't know if these would contribute much to the site, but if you want them, for any purpose you might have for them, then I'll pull them together for you.

That would be appreciated. I have none myself and I know handheldmuseum has a guts section, but I think I would add them to the game itself in the future.

Do you really think the Ghostbusters II (version 1 grey) and version 2 are different. I get the feeling version 1 is just the faded version of 2. Also looking at the speaking grey version gives me that doubt. For now I will add version 2 and if they are really different I will the ohter as well of course. I had those doubts myself sometimes with some games I have as well.

Also nice to see about the speech or speaking version. Did not realize that.
And thanks for all the different G.I. Joe versions. That is alsonew to me. Good to have that all captured.

By the way, I liked the idea of the 4 logos of the MGS beand you provided. I added it but it is kinda small. Only 150 pixels in height. If you have an original indouble that I think it is better to view. I fnot, don't bother. I will create one myself (I hope) :D .

Small notes:
Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back (version 1 grey) => I already had images since I own that one and I think they are the same

"...Ghostbusters II (version 1 grey) and version 2..."

Yes, but only the logo is different;
- version 1 has "Micro Games USA".
- version 2 has "Micro Games of America".

And the speaking versions have "216S" on the sticker, instead of the "206".
(can't confirm if the gamelogic is 100% same, I do not own any 216S game)

Here are the original resolution images for the Ghostbusters for comparison with eachother.
webpack_002_20260524_upscale: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/ ... _mH06_nxD2

"...4 logos ... If you have an original in double..."

Yes, larger resolution is not a problem, included in the link above are 4 PNG's with transparant bg.

"Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back (version 1 grey)..."

Oh yes, indeed identical, sorry.

Thanks. I did not notice that ghostbuster differenc on the small image sizes. That is sometimes a bit of a shame. Some third party image have big sizes and others so small it requires upscaling, but I prefer one size for all third party. That is why I keep them unnecessarily small sometimes

I might do an update of the website tomorrow already with all this since I am having a public holiday :D .
